DL-malic acid
DL-malic acid is a mixture of D-malic acid and L-malic acid. Malic Acid is also known as: 2-hydroxysuccinic acid. Its CAS NO. is: 617-48-1 . In nature, malic acid exists in three forms, namely D-malic acid, L-malic acid and DL malic acid. DL-malic acid is an organic acid . It is a colorless crystalline solid with a sour taste.
Applications:
DL-malic acid is widely used in the food industry. It has a sour taste and can be used as a food flavoring agent and an acidifier in foods such as candies, beverages and juices. It can also be used as a leavening agent in baked goods such as bread and cakes to improve their sour texture and taste. DL malic acid also has antioxidant and fresh-keeping effects, which can extend the shelf life of food and maintain product nutrition. In addition, it can also be used as an emulsion stabilizer for egg yolks.
DL-malic acid can be used as one of the synthetic raw materials for descaling agents and fluorescent whitening agents in the chemical industry. Added to shellac varnish or other varnishes, it can prevent the paint surface from crusting. The polyester resin and alkyd resin produced with this acid are plastics with special uses.
