Carboxymethyl Starch Sodium (CMS)
Carboxymethyl starch sodium (CMS) also known as sodium starch glycolate. It is a white or off-white powder and odorless. CAS NO. is 9063-38-1
Applications:
Carboxymethyl starch sodium (CMS) performs various functions, such as thickening, suspension, emulsification, stabilization and acid resistance. Food grade CMS is widely used in milk, beverages, frozen foods and fast food. In addition, CMS has no caloric value, so it can be used to produce low-calorie foods with ideal results.
Sodium carboxymethyl starch has strong water absorption and swelling properties. It swells quickly in water and does not dissolve. Therefore, sodium starch glycolate EP is often used as an efficient disintegrant and excipient for pharmaceutical tablets in medicine.
