Sodium Metabisulfite
Sodium metabisulfite, CAS NO. is: 7681-57-4, is an inorganic compound, which is white or yellow crystal with a strong pungent odor. SMBS is soluble in water and the aqueous solution is acidic. If left in the air for a long time, it will be oxidized into sodium sulfate, so sodium metabisulfite cannot be stored for a long time.
Applications:
Industrial grade sodium metabisulphite 97% can be used to produce insurance powder, sulfamethazine, metamizole, caprolactam, etc; Used in the pharmaceutical industry for the purification of chloroform, phenylpropyl sulfone and benzaldehyde; Used as coagulant in the rubber industry. Sodium metabisulphite (SMBS) also can be used as a dechlorination agent after bleaching cotton cloth, a scouring aid for cotton cloth, and a mordant for printing and dyeing.
Sodium metabisulfite food grade can be used as a bleaching agent and leavening agent for foods such as biscuits and cakes, a nutrient retaining agent for vegetable dehydration, a preservative for fruit storage, a sterilizing preservative for brewing and beverages, etc.
