Calcium Stearate
Calcium stearate is an organic compound, CAS NO. is: 1592-23-0, a salt composed of stearic acid and calcium ions. Calcium stearate is generally in the form of white powder with a melting point of approximately 147-149°C. It is very slightly soluble in water, but soluble in alcohol-like solvents and has good thermal stability.
Applications:
Industrial application: Calcium stearate can be used to prepare grease, soap, waterproofing agent, flattening agent, etc. Used as heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride and lubricant for various plastic processing, release agent, etc. It is also used in soft films and appliances that require nontoxicity, such as food packaging and medical equipment. It can also be used as halogen absorbent for polyethylene and polypropylene. Used as plasticizer, lubricant and release agent in rubber processing to soften natural rubber and finished rubber. It can also be used as a flattening agent for paints and a lubricant for pencil leads.
Food additive: As a food additive, calcium stearate can be added to pastries, sweets, chewing gum and other sweets to act as a lubricant.
Pharmaceutical additives: Calcium stearate powder is often used as an additive in the preparation of granular solid drugs, such as capsules, tablets, etc.
Cosmetics: Calcium stearate is often used in skin care products and cosmetics as a stabilizer and thickener.
